It’s an exciting time to be a CD Projekt Red fan as the famed developer reveal big plans and a new IP. The news came through their Strategy Update announcement posted on their YouTube channel.
In their presentation, CD Projekt Red announces that they are working on new Cyberpunk 2077 IPs, expanding on the stories of night city. First on the list is called Phantom Liberty, an upcoming expansion to the current Cyberpunk 2077 game. The title has been on the road to recovery after a seemingly-disastrous launched filled with bugs and issues. Aside from an expansion, a new project titled Orion will also be part of the Cyberpunk 2077 roadmap.
Together with Cyberpunk 2077, new IPs are also coming to The Witcher franchise. CDPR’s biggest and award-winning franchise is getting multiple titles with one lineup forming a new trilogy. In addition to the new trilogy, The Witcher franchise is also having new projects – codenamed Polaris and Canis Majoris, and will introduce new elements such as multiplayer.
Last on CDPR’s announcements include a brand new IT now operating under the codename Hadar. Project Hadar is stil in the early stages of the creative process with development to start in the near future.
Together with the announcement of new projects, CDPR also details that they are working with external developers and developing new studios. Project Canis Majoris will be under the helm of a 3rd party studio. Sirius on the other hand, will be co-developed by The Molasses Flood, known for titles The Flame and the Flood and Drake Hollow. CDPR is also setting up a new studio for Cyberpunk 2077’s Project Orion.
CD Projekt Red’s announcement also is a first for the company in terms of working on multiple titles and IPs at the same time. Prior to this, the developer is known to focus on just one big project with the last being Cyberpunk 2077.
